For the first time since taking office as the Kenyan Ambassador in US, H.E. The Amb N.R.O Ogego, reached out to Kenyans in Utah, on June 05, 2009! Despite the many events he had scheduled for him in Salt Lake City, the ambassador squeezed in some evening (7pm - 9pm) to meet Kenyans in Utah. Seen here on the right is the Ambassador, the Utah Mayor and some of the hosting team's members.
Herein below, is a group of Kenyans who found time from their complex schedules (work, study, domestic commitments, and some barred by distance etc) to attend the Friday evening meeting -- it is estimated that there are close to 100 Kenyans in Utah. It was a town-hall meeting -- numerous questions were fired at H.E and very cogent responses were received in return from the Ambassador. Kenyans in Utah have never felt so satisfied, encouraged and energized to be together and to never loose site of their objectives which brought them to the US. The Kenyans in attendance were indeed convinced by the Ambassador's emphasis on his commitment to serving Kenyans -- he confirmed that he is in the US to serve ALL Kenyans. The attendees also commended H.E (via personal testimonies) for the much improved services at the Washington DC's Kenyan Embassy's Office -- services are efficient, especially passport renewals (including service to the International world) -- we were very impressed. We assured the Ambassador that the newly created Association of Kenyans in Utah (AKU) strives to unite ALL Kenyans and their families and that interactions with and participation in the Embassy's events/activities will be enhanced through AKU.
Thank you your Excellency, for paying us a visit, come again and again! Make this visit just the beginning of the start. We look forward to seeing you more. Your updates on past and current events in Kenya, investment tips etc were very beneficial in keeping us on the loop.
God bless.
